This 6.79 carat, unheated Rwandan amethyst oval is a visually distinct stone from the deeper, blue-hue-dominant amethyst more commonly associated with the category. The base color here is a pure, saturated purple that carries a warm fuchsia-lavender quality. The color is lighter and more luminous than a standard deep purple amethyst, with a pink-violet brightness that looks different across light sources. In natural daylight it shifts toward an indigo-purple, cooler and more contained. Under artificial light it opens into a vivid violet with fuchsia saturation that brings the stone to life. The photos here capture this range well: the color is genuinely different in each one, which is what presents when holding the stone in person.

What is also visible in the photos, particularly when the stone is held at certain angles, is natural color banding: subtle, parallel zones of slightly varying color saturation running through the interior. The zoning is slightly visible when the stone is tilted, and is mostly masked by the stone’s intense and saturated color throughout its body. Most amethyst on the market, this banding is eliminated through heat treatment, which dissolves the zoning into a uniform color. The presence of this banding in this stone is confirmation of its untreated status. It is not a flaw. It is the record of how the crystal grew, layer by layer, in the ground, and that history is precisely what you lose when a stone is heated. For stone medicine practitioners, this matters: the stone's energetic field has not been interrupted or changed in any way.

The oval cut is well-proportioned with strong brilliance through the crown facets and even color distribution across the face.

WHAT THIS STONE IS USED FOR

One advantage of a faceted gemstone over a rough crystal is the culet, the pointed tip at the base of the stone, which acts as a focused energy director, similar to the tip of a Vogel crystal. By pointing the culet directly at the body, you can concentrate and deliver the stone's vibrational frequencies into a specific point rather than allowing them to radiate outward in all directions.

At just under seven carats, this stone is a practical working size. It is substantial enough to place directly on the body for stone medicine work, hold comfortably in the palm during meditation, or position at the crown or third eye chakras without the stone requiring a stand or anchor. The culet directed at the crown or third eye delivers the violet band's output in a concentrated, precise way. For on-the-body layouts, rest it face-up on the sternum or hold it at the forehead.

The fuchsia-violet color position this stone occupies is warmer and more luminous than a pure deep purple, which places it closer to the red-violet range of the spectrum than the darker, more blue-dominant Rwandan material. This gives it an energetic character that combines the violet band's etheric revitalization and transmutational properties with a warmer, more emotionally resonant quality that practitioners working with heart-crown connection or emotional integration may find useful.

For jewelry, the oval's proportions at 15 x 11.5mm make it a strong centerpiece stone in a pendant or ring. The color shift ensures it presents differently depending on whether it is worn indoors or outdoors, which gives the piece a living, dynamic quality.

VIBRATIONAL PROFILE

Violet Band: Amethyst is among the primary mineral carriers of the violet band in the vibrational spectrum. At the physical level, the violet band builds the spleen and white blood cells, supports the lymphatic system, and has been applied in protocols for serious illness. At the energetic level, it is faster and more penetrating than the white band and amplifies any other vibrational color used alongside it. It produces etheric revitalization and transmutation. At the emotional and mental level, it shifts awareness away from physical-world concerns and toward spiritual focus, promoting higher awareness and consciousness. At the spiritual level, it gives spiritual strength and deepens the effects of meditation.

Amethyst's trigonal crystal structure, a subset of hexagonal symmetry with three-fold rotational symmetry, gives it a specific energetic character within the violet band. The trigonal system's versatile geometry allows it to both stabilize and dynamically redirect energy, and it is specifically documented in crystal science as supporting the calming of the mind and the enhancement of spiritual awareness through the harmonic resonance of its lattice structure. This is not incidental to amethyst's long history of use in meditation and spiritual practice across cultures, but rather a structural property of the mineral itself.

In Rudolf Steiner's system of four ethers, violet corresponds to the life ether, the highest of the four ethers, which penetrates solid matter and governs the physical materialization of spiritual impulses. In Daskalos' archangelic system, violet is the flame of Archangel Raphael, the archangel of healing in the Western tradition, who governs etheric vitality. The alchemical violet flame tradition speaks to violet's core function: the transmutation of denser energetic states into higher, refined ones.

The color shift this stone exhibits, from indigo-purple in daylight to fuchsia-violet under artificial light, reflects movement across the higher-frequency bands of the spectrum. The warmer, fuchsia-inflected end of this stone's color range sits closer to the red-violet sub-band than the deeper, cooler material, which adds an emotionally integrative quality to the violet band's primary spiritual and etheric function. This stone works at both ends of that range depending on the light and context in which it is used.
